Nie, Joseph 'Nervie'

Born on January 22, 1909. Nie was raised in Ludlow. Nie attended St. James School in Ludlow. He worked in the Kenton County Sheriff's Office for many years. He served as Sheriff of Kenton County from 1969 to 1973.

In his younger days, Nie played basketball with the St. James Rockne Athletic Club 'Bees.' Nie also played semi-pro baseball in Northern Kentucky. He was honored for his athletic ability by being inducted into the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame.

Nie was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Kenton County Democratic Club. Nie eventually moved to Park Hills with his wife, Marian 'Mitzie' Nie.

Joseph 'Nervie' Nie died on February 22, 1999. Two stepchildren survived him: Vivian Alexander and Jack Hueser. Mass of Christian Burial was conducted at St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright, with burial at St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
